ASAK! With Ramadan approaching, we thought it would be helpful if you received some tips for the fasting during this holy month!

- Never skip Suhoor! Eating the proper foods during Suhoor is very important in maintaining a healthy state during Ramadan. Some suggested foods to eat are carbohydrates such as whole grain cereals, bread and rice.

- Try to always break your fast with a couple of dates. Dates are a good source of vitamins, minerals, energy, fiber, and sugar.

- Drink plenty of water before and after you break your fast! Drinking water is essentially a key factor in preventing sickness during your fast. Drink at least 8 glasses of water everyday before beginning your fast and after you break it for a healthy day of fasting.

- Avoid eating salty foods during this month. We all have cravings after a long day's fast, but it is not recommended to eat salty processed foods because it will increase your thirst.

- Try to limit fried foods as well! Although we cannot control what our mother makes for iftaar, we can limit the amount of samosas and pakoras we eat! :)

- Lastly, to avoid constipation, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables!

Don't be tempted by this!

JAK,

Sara and Nadia
